My Mission

Lessons Tailored To You

When working with children and youth in general, it is important to set and provide an example of exceptional communication skills as I have observed that children tend to mimic the adults and perpetuate the behaviour exhibited by those said adults. I have 35 years of work experience with children of various ages (5 – 15 years old), and I have worked in different countries throughout my teaching career.

Advice for New Students

Benefits of a Piano Teacher

Tailored Learning Experience

Learning the piano is as unique as you are, and that's the beauty of having a piano teacher guide you through the process. Whether you’re a bright-eyed beginner or an adult looking to reignite a childhood passion, private piano lessons offer a tailored learning experience that a book or video simply can't match. Your tutor is there to celebrate your strengths and patiently work through the areas where you need a bit of a nudge. You’ll quickly find that each lesson is shaped to suit your pace, your interests, and your goals. Now that, my friends, is the magic of one-to-one piano tuition.

Consistent Progress and Accountability

I get it, life gets busy, and sometimes our hobbies take the back seat. That's where weekly lessons swoop in to save the day. There's something special about setting aside time each week for your piano skills to flourish. With me as your tutor, I’ll make sure we keep things fun and upbeat, whilst also keeping you on track. Consider me your musical accountability partner – nudging you gently towards those leaps in improvement. And for kids, having that regular routine with someone who's truly invested in their growth is priceless.

Hands-on Guidance and Immediate Feedback

Virtual online lessons and tutorial videos are great, but there's no substitute for being able to ask a question and get an immediate answer, is there? With piano lessons in person, you get real-time feedback – you'll know straight away if you’re hitting the right notes or if something needs tweaking. This hands-on approach not only builds your skills but boosts your confidence massively. More teachers in the room might feel like more pressure, but it's quite the opposite – it’s a support system that’s entirely focused on you.

A Flourishing Musical Community

One of the joys of learning with piano tutors is the community you become a part of. Seeing others learn and grow alongside you can be incredibly inspiring. And it's not just about the skills you develop; it’s about the memories and the relationships. Imagine the joy of your little one as they play their first piece or the pride you feel at mastering a challenging piece. In Bournemouth, our musical family is spirited and supportive; from children to adults of every age, we all have a shared passion for the beauty of the piano.

Music Theory Made Easy

Learning music theory can feel intimidating, like tackling a complex puzzle where each piece must fit perfectly. But, as your piano tutor, I'm here to guide you through it step by step, ensuring that you grasp the essentials while keeping it as joyful as playing your favourite tune. Whether you’re a beginner or further along in your musical journey, understanding theory is key to deepening your piano skills.

Think of music theory as your musical alphabet. Once you get the hang of it, you’re not just playing; you’re conversing with your instrument. And there's a sense of pride in that, right? It can take your playing from those first simple melodies to intricate pieces that stir the soul.

But what if the piano isn't your main instrument? No problem at all! As a music tutor with a passion for various instruments, I've taught many who enjoy playing the piano alongside singing or even mastering the flute. The key here is patience and finding the perfect tutor—someone who gets you, knows how to keep the learning engaging, and can cheer on your progress. That's where I come in, striving to be the perfect tutor for each of my students.

So, grab a cuppa and imagine sitting by the piano, feeling the keys beneath your fingers. What tune will you bring to life? Let's discover it together. Book your first lesson and let's start this exciting adventure!
