My Experience as a Teacher

I am a professional piano player and singer based in London. I am currently studying towards a Masters degree in Vocal Studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance as the Kathleen Roberts scholar. I previously studied at Oundle School and here I held a Music scholarship and went on to read Music at the University of Manchester. My time here was spent mainly focusing on my skills as a pianist, performing works such as Beethoven’s 5th Piano Concerto, Poulenc’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, and many contemporary works by other students.

I have held lay clerkships at Truro, Ely and Christ Church Cathedrals and whilst I was living in Oxford I developed a thriving private teaching practice both freelance and employed as an academic music tutor at Oxford Tutorial College. I am fortunate enough to sing regularly at the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral which has allowed me to join many leading vocal ensembles such as The Sixteen, Siglo de Oro, TheErebus Ensemble and Britten Sinfonia Voices. I am an active performing musician who takes great pride in being the best pianist and singer that I can be and I am now ready to share these skills with you.

I currently hold a Diploma ABRSM (Piano) at Distinction level and a MusB (University of Manchester) 2:1. I regularly call upon the skills I developed while studying to provide high quality and professional lessons. I like to offer lessons that cover a wide range of musical topics including musical theory to allow you not only to grow and improve as a piano player but as an all round musician too. Learning the behind the scenes of music is really beneficial when performing with other musicians in real world settings and live shows.

I have a simple but tried and tested approach to teaching piano. That is to share my passion with you throughout every session to make sure you get the best out of your lessons. I believe in teaching the student what they want to learn and for us to explore the music you are passionate about as well as making sure we have a solid foundation of theory to back up your playing.

I have a lot of experience teaching students of all playing levels. Both beginners and advanced players are more than welcome to take lessons with me. I also teach young learners and I do so with the time and patience that I was lucky enough to get when I first started.
