I am a professional piano teacher, composer and performer who has been teaching piano for over 10 years and performing publicly for more than 20 years.
With this wealth of experience, I can confidently provide individual lessons that are tailored to meet your unique wants and needs.

I like to make sure all of my students enjoy learning to play the piano. Enjoying what you learn is one of the most important aspects to learning any new skill.
You will learn songs that you love as well as learning all the essential theory. We will make a lesson plan together that works for you.
I aim to make my students feel comfortable and at ease during lesson time and encourage them to ask questions, no matter how ridiculous or irrelevant these may seem.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I teach both beginner and advanced students in a wide range of styles and genres. I also have experience in teaching both teens and adults.
I maintain a high level of tuition for all of my students
I was classically trained as a child (being awarded distinction at ABRSM Classical Piano Grade 7) and later completed a university degree course (BA (Hons)), studying to become a Music Therapist.
I have recorded on over 40 commercial music releases, with a variety of musicians and released 19 independent recordings of my own original music as well as having also spent the past 5 years busking in Nottingham city centre on an upright piano.
My playing and performing experience will help make sure you have the best experience when learning to play the piano. I will use my experience to make sure you enjoy and get the most out of your lesson.
Beginner students welcome to take lessons
I teach in person from a lovely studio situated close to Nottingham city centre and also provide online tuition. My main focus will be to teach you how to read music as I believe this will enable you to then play any music that you desire.
I encourage (but do not insist) that my students follow the graded ABRSM examination syllabus as this was the route that I took as a piano student.
I also have a keen interest in teaching correct piano technique and posture as this is a sure way to avoid injury in the future. I am in regular contact with a variety of piano teachers to compare teaching strategies.

At Musicroom Nottingham you will find a huge range of sheet music for all instruments. It is the biggest retailer of sheet music and music books in the UK. They are based in 246 Victoria Centre, Nottingham, NG1 3QQ. Remember to ask the staff if there is something that you need.
The Music Inn offers many types of music equipment for any musician. For beginners who would like to find an instrument for the starting period, this shop is probably the best option for you. They are located on 28-34 Alfreton Road, Nottingham, NG7 3NG.
I have been passionate about music for as long as I can remember. When I started playing piano at age 5, all I ever wanted to do was play and I would practice for hours every night. As a teacher I am keen to bring this passion for piano to the classroom, to inspire my students to thoroughly enjoy learning the piano. Together we will learn and develop your skills to the level you wish to achieve.

My lessons are currently charged at £30 per hour.
I take the majority of my lessons from my teaching space located at Haydn Road, Nottingham NG5 1DG.
I teach students of ages 18 years and above.
It's your choice however I would recommend a lesson per week combined with plenty of practice at home for the best results.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice you will still be charged for the lesson however if you cancel with enough notice I am more than happy to reschedule the lesson.
