Principal Accompanist Vacancy – Wessex Male Choir
The award-winning Wessex Male Choir is inviting applications for the position of Principal Accompanist
The Wessex Male Choir rehearses every Tuesday evening from 7.30-9.30pm at the Church of Chris the Servant, Abbey Meads, Swindon. There is a maximum of 40 rehearsals per year (some of which are covered by our other accompanists).
The post is remunerated at £50 per rehearsal and £110 per concert. Applications must be received by mid-day on the 27th June.
Auditions for shortlisted candidates will be held on Tuesday evening 4th July. The successful candidate should be available to start in September.
The Principal Accompanist is required to accompany the Choir at rehearsals and concerts, and asset the Music Director as required, including taking occasional ‘split rehearsals’ and, in extremis, running a main choir rehearsal in the absence of the Music Director.
The Choir performs in public about 12 times a year including 2-3 major concerts in Swindon, roughly 6 concerts or events in local towns, and 2-3 concerts at greater distances within the UK. Events also include occasional singing competitions and a tour, usually overseas, approximately every two years.
