Alison Smith – Classical Guitarist
Award winning classical guitarist Alison Smith will be performing a concert at Bents Green Methodist Church Hall, Sheffield on Saturday 15th July 2017 at 7.30pm. Alison has been described as “one of the most exciting and lyrical guitarists to emerge in recent years”, indeed, you only have to listen to her recordings to feel the expression of emotions that flow through the music when Alison performs. Iain Anderson of BBC Scotland correctly summarises her playing is “hypnotic” and certainly something to experience firsthand.
For this concert in Sheffield, she will be performing an exciting and appealing programme including transcribed works of Chopin, Debussy and George shearing alongside original works for the guitar by Weiss, Tarrega, Mertz, Barrios and Lovelady.
Originally from Plymouth Alison studied at Trinity College of Music London, graduating with an honours and a college scholarship for post graduate study. She gained a distinction in the Post-Graduate Performance Certificate in 1997, before taking up a role as a guitar tutor and chamber music coach at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. With her performances described as “a master class classical guitar played with friendly charm and sublime expertise” (International Guitar Festival of Great Britain) and that “the audience was spellbound by her sensitive playing” (Kieler Nachrichten / Werner Bodendorff) it is an excellent opportunity to see a classical guitarist who has won critical acclaim both in the UK and abroad perform.
Tickets are £10 or £8 for concessions, available to buy now from wegottickets.com. You can also find out more about Alison Smith as a classical guitarist by visiting her website: alisonsmithguitar.com.

Hi, my son(9) has been learning guitar for a year.
And now, he is looking for new teacher. Are you available to teach after school of weekend?
Regards,
