Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I have plenty of experience in teaching both beginners and advanced players and would recommend my lessons to anyone who wants to learn to play the bass guitar.
I started teaching teenagers, one to one, while studying my Music degree at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge in 2015 and have since progressed to be able to teach a variety of age groups, from infant to mature. Currently, I can cover lessons in Electric Bass, Piano and Music Theory.
My performing career highlights so far include numerous performances with Jazz Funk group, Mode9, such as the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in 2017, selling out the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho, London in 2018 and touring around Jiangsu, China in 2018 as part of the Nanjing Jazz Festival, performing 13 dates over 2 weeks.
I have a lot of experience in recording and song writing as well which is always useful for helping students. I feature on the album 'Only Two Things Are Infinite' by Jazz Fusion guitarist, Chanan Hanspal, released in 2018, alongside Jazz legends Bill Evans and Mike Stern.
My lessons on the Electric Bass can cover beginners to advanced levels and include learning repertoire of multiple genres, playing techniques, recording, reading bass notation and chord charts, ear training and other musicianship skills and working students up to a professional standard to help them on their way to having a career in music.
Like I mentioned before, I like to make sure my lessons are always enjoyable. We will always learn towards the music and styles that you love to learn as a listener and have you playing your favorite tracks in no time.
I also offer music theory lessons as well & my Music Theory lessons can cover beginners to advanced levels, including topics such as Jazz harmony, composition and songwriting.
Cambridge has a great music scene in which there are hundreds of active bands playing every year. We have a great range of music shops to service this scene as well. Here are a few of my favorites.
PMT Cambridge, is the best option in the city where you can find a wide range of basses and guitars & if they don't have what you want in stock they can order it for you. You''l find PMT at 172 East Rd, Cambridge CB1 1BG.
Cambridge Strings, is the best option in the area if you happen to be a stringed instrument player, they cater mostly to classical players but do have a selection of guitars and basses too. You can find them at 72 King St, Cambridge CB1 1LN.
Millars Music, if you are looking for a piano shop then this is the best one in Cambridge. Located at 12 Sussex St, Cambridge CB1 1PW.
I'm a professional musician and bass teacher who can help you improve all aspects of both your playing and understanding of music. If you need help with learning a song or writing your own music then my custom built lessons will help you achieve your dreams and goals. For more information, feel free to send me an email at any time.
[email protected]My lessons are charged at £17 per 1/2 hour, £23.50 per 3/4 of hour and £30 per hour for all students.
I take most of my lessons from my home teaching space located on Green End Road, Cambridge, CB4 1RN.
I teach both adults and children but would recommend starting from ages 7 and up because the bass is a very large instrument and children under 7 seem to struggle.
Weekly lessons are the best way to improve your playing in the short term. However, some of my students take lessons on a fortnightly basis and practise at home.
My cancellation policy is that I need at least 24hrs notice by the student. Fail to do so will result in the lesson being lost. I always ask for the payment to be made in advanced to secure the work for me and the lesson for the student. If I suddenly need to cancel due to illness or other work comes up, then I am obliged to reschedule the lesson at an agreed time.
