My Experience as a Teacher

For the past 8 years, I’ve been working as a professional musician. This has taken me across the world and regularly takes me across the UK. I’ve got experience in everything from television, radio, recording sessions, big bands, function bands, singer-songwriters, jazz and theatre pits.

I’ve taken private lessons with Janek Gwizdala, Anthony Wellington, Jeff Berlin and Sharay Reed. As a teacher, I have taught privately for 12 years. I teach as an instrumental instructor in schools so I’ve got experience from the absolute beginner to more seasoned players regardless of age group.

I use my experience as a musician and the experience I've gained from other players to make sure your lessons are always of the highest standard. I want my students to always go away full of information & looking forward to the next session.

More About My Lessons

Bass is my specialist instrument, I am not a guitarist who also teaches bass. I was at college studying music and then progressed to University. If you're looking for a specialist bass teacher with years of performance experience then I can help you learn with my personalised bass lessons in Glasgow.

I pride myself on always learning in a direction that the students want to learn in. I feel that learning familiar artists and music is the key to making rapid progress as well as enjoying learning. Don't forget to practice in your spare time as well!

My students have gone on to pass exams both in school and graded, gotten accepted to places in college/university, started/joined bands and generally just getting out and playing more to have fun. I hope that all my students for years to come will also continue to achieve great things.

Music Shops in Glasgow

Glasgow has long been known as the city that discovered Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Travis, Primal Scream & many more. It also has plenty of music stores that help to hold up that music scene.

There is a local music shop called Village Music, with whom I have had a close friendship with for 18 years. It's a small independent shop, with great customer service and a wonderful ability to help musicians to find high-quality equipment at the right price point for them. To find out more visit their website or head to 29 Main St, East Kilbride, Glasgow G74 4JU.

Biggars Music, also caters to all kinds of players but was established in 1867 which makes it one of the longest standing shops in Glasgow. You can find them at Unit 9 Upper Mall Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow G1 2FF.

CC Music, is probably the best place to go for a great selection of new and used guitars and basses as well as a great range of amps. They are located at 33 Otago St, Glasgow G12 8JJ.

Frequently Asked Questions

My lessons are charged at £20 per hald hour and £30 per hour for all students.

I take most of my lessons from my home teaching space in Glasgow, G72 9NS. Please get in touch for more information.

I teach both teens and adults how to play the bass. I currently don't offer lessons to those under 11.

For fast progress, I would recommend you take weekly lessons combined with plenty of practice at home. Some students also choose to take lessons on a fortnightly basis due to their work and other commitments.

For lessons cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled time will be subjected to a charge of the full lesson price. Extenuating circumstances (i.e. family bereavement, hospitalisation etc) are understood and respected but please make an effort to inform me as soon as possible.

Please note, that failure to show up to any lesson will be subject to the full lesson fee. Additionally, I am not obligated to make-up lessons or credit lessons where the student has failed to show up.

Any lesson cancelled that is a result of my own gigging schedule will always be rescheduled. Students who are late for their scheduled lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson length.

I always try to differentiate between rescheduling and cancelling and on my side I'm trying to cover the few times where a last minute gig comes in and I would to reschedule a lesson. It doesn't happen all that often but it has been knowing to occur. Usually that's something I cover with students at the first lesson but I think if we can have something about it in writing on the page then it provides added security.
