Book lessons with professional bass teacher Ben Dyer
Hello! I'm Ben Dyer, a professional bass teacher based in Liverpool. I offer tuition for both bass guitar and double bass, and my lessons are available for all ages and abilities.
I have been playing music professionally since 2015, and have played functions & gigs all over the country with many different bands.
My lessons are available for anyone aged 6 upwards. You do not need any prior knowledge or playing experience.
I loved learning music growing up, and I want the same for my students. You will learn playing music you love.
I take lessons at my home teaching space in the L8 postcode area but am more than happy to offer mobile teaching in Liverpool.
Professional bass lessons catered to the student for all ages & abilities, with mobile teaching available.
Half-hour lessons are available to everyone but are most suitable for younger students or beginners who may find learning music in bite-sized amounts a little easier.
One-hour lessons are the best way to see progress in your learning. An hour slot provides a good amount of time for both teaching and supervised practice.
'Enthusiastic teacher, who's great at explaining theory at a much-needed beginner level.'
'I struggled to find a teacher who was suitable for adults, but Ben has been perfect. He's flexible to my schedule and isn't reliant on teaching from a book like other teachers!'
'He got me gigs. Can't argue with that.'
I have been involved in music for almost 18 years, and have experience playing in bands & ensembles on piano, bass guitar, and double bass. I have played professionally since 2015 and have performed all over the country.
My lessons are designed to suit your specific needs. We will work on all aspects of playing bass, through playing music genres you love, and learning at a pace you feel comfortable with.
I grew up with music, and I look back fondly on my journey: studying piano from a young age and discovering a love for both electric and upright bass. It is my mission to ensure you find enjoyment in your learning as I did.
Ultimately, I want to support you to achieve whatever goals you set yourself in music. Whether your goal is just to play at a decent level casually or to attain grade/performance standard, I am excited to play a part in your journey.
I take the majority of my lessons from my teaching space in the Toxteth area near Liverpool docks (Postcode L8 3TX). You can reach my address easily from Liverpool One Bus Station taking the 82 Bus and alighting at Upper Park Street bus stop.
A lot of students feel more comfortable learning in their own home, however, and I am more than happy to offer mobile lessons, so if this is the case for you, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Music Shops in Liverpool:
Liverpool's music-rich history leaves it with plenty of music shops. This is a blessing for anyone looking to get into music here as you can easily get your hands on anything you need. Here's a brief list of some of my favourite locations:
A trip to Dawsons Music Liverpool usually leaves you feeling like a kid in a candy shop. They have an impressive store floor full of kit, with stacks of shelves of impressive instruments and their accessories. Dawsons Music often has discounts on ex-display stock so are worth a visit on 14-16 Williamson Street, L1 1EB to see what you can get your hands on.
Protone Music specialise in selling pre-owned instruments, as well as offering a repairs and set-up service. For those strapped for cash, shops like these can be a great way of picking up an instrument at lower prices. They are located at 38 Renshaw Street, L1 4EF.
