My Lessons

All Ages & Genres

I have experience in teaching both young learners and adults. I would recommend starting no younger than age 7 though. I find that students under 7 tend to struggle with the physicality of learning a string instrument.

I'm able to teach a wide range of genres & would be happy to tailor our lesson course towards the genres that you want to learn & that you like to listen to in your spare time.

A Little Bit About Me

I'm a friendly and encouraging DBS checked cello teacher with experience teaching children and adults from total beginners to middling grades.

I have a flexible approach and will cater to the learning style and musical tastes of the student. My varied experience as a session cellist proves that cello doesn't have to mean only classical!

My calm and positive presence suits less confident students. I prioritise general musicianship and enjoyment of playing over jumping from grade to grade, but I am happy to enter students for ABRSM exams when suitable.

My Experience as a Cello Teacher

I have completed the Trinity Certificate of Music Educators. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music with Philosophy, a Master's degree in Music, and have completed ABRSM exams in cello (grade 8), clarinet and music theory (grade 6), piano and voice (grade 3).

I initially gained experience of instrumental teaching in schools through a rewarding voluntary role before my first paid teaching positions. Although specialising in cello, I also currently teach violin, recorder and performing arts.

I have several years of experience of teaching individual, small groups as well as whole class instrumental tuition. I have embraced online lessons in 2020 using Zoom.

Turner Violins, is one of the best stores in the area for stringed instruments both old and new. They are located at 1-5 Lily Grove, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 1QL.

How much do lessons cost?

My lessons are charged at £15 per half hour or £30 per hour for my lessons.

Where do the lessons take place?

Although I do offer online lessons mostly at the moment, my lessons usually take place from my home teaching space in the NG4 area of Nottingham. I also offer mobile cello tuition.

What ages do you teach?

I offer my lessons to both young learners and adults. I would recommend learning no younger than age 7 though.

Do I have to attend lessons every week?

Weekly lessons are recommended but not essential. You can take lessons as and when you like.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

Please note that Cello Lessons Nottingham operates a 24-hour cancellation policy. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will still be charged full price.

Teaching Space

My lessons usually take place from my home teaching space in the Carlton Hill Area of Nottingham. This is a great place to learn where I have created a comfortable learning environment where you can feel at home whilst learning. My full teaching address will be provided upon your first lesson booking. I am also able to offer online & mobile cello lessons.
