Welcome to
My name is David and I am offering high quality Clarinet lessons for all students aged 5+ based in Cambridge.
I have taught music as an educator for the past 10 years and in this time have worked with students from all walks of life, all ages and styles. I like getting to meet new people and always ensure the sessions are as relaxed as they can be. Learning an instrument should be fun and I like to keep it that way.
I pride myself as an educator on providing the highest quality clarinet lessons all of which focus on instrumental techniques, musical interpretation, performance skills, harmony, posture as well as a whole other selection of musical topics.

As well as the clarinet I do also play the guitar and teach music theory classes. This wide range of knowledge allows me to tailor my lessons to the specific needs of that student. Each person likes different music and different styles, I will always make sure we are learning material you like!
Together we will create a lesson plan that includes artists and styles that you enjoy to listen to. This way we can always ensure progress and get double the reward at the end as you'll be able to play all those songs you've dreamed of, whilst growing and developing as a musician in the process.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
As part of the mgrmusic.com network we work with:I have experience in teaching students of all ages and abilities. Whether you're just picking up a clarinet for the first time, or you're just looking to move up to that next level, my lessons are tailored and suitable for any student no matter how much or how little experience you may have.
I have been studying music for the most part of my life, and I am very passionate about what I do. Having graduated with MPhil in Music Studies and a First Class Honours, I feel confident in my ability to provide insightful but fun Clarinet Lessons. I am currently also working towards achieving my Doctorate and PHD in Music.
I have taught music as an educator for around 10 years and have been fortunate enough to help many students grow as a musician as well as working alongside other musicians myself. I regularly perform around the UK primarily performing Baroque, Classical, Contemporary, Latin-American, Romantic and Spanish Music.
I've given lectures and recitals in Cambridge, Hong Kong and Portugal and delivered papers in Belgium, Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Middlesex University. I also co-authored a book chapter (with Professor Marc Estibeiro, Staffordshire University), co-organised a conference (The Classical Musician in the 21st Century conference, University of Cambridge), and built self-playing guitar robots (RITMO Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Rhythm, Time and Motion, University of Oslo, Norway).
For my PhD I am working on a thesis titled 'The Collaborative Guitar' under the supervision of Professor John Rink. Alongside my academic studies I am a current and active performer. I have performed all over the UK and have performed alongside Dame Emma Kirkby and the Military Wives.
I currently perform as one half of Duo Palatino alongside Mezzo-Soprano Sophie Kidwell. Teaching and performing music is something I am very passion about and I love to share this with others. No matter what your goals are together we will strive for greatness!
Whether this is your first time playing a clarinet or you're 100th time, don't hesitate to get in touch and book a lesson today and together we will get you to that next level.
