  • Hi Beckie,

I can completely identify with your post. I’ve had a couple of pupils over the years with similar behaviour characteristics that you outline and it can be really hard in lessons! A couple of things that worked for me were having a plan of activities that I wanted to cover but then letting the pupil lead the activity whenever I sensed…[Read more]

  • Thanks for posting Alan – it’s a really interesting article. I especially like the bit about engaging pupils in non music related chit chat. It can really develop trust and rapport so that the learning part becomes even more productive 🙂

  • @james-barnett Happy New Year James! How did you celebrate last night? You were right about the red plant you bought me for Christmas dying as soon as 26th came around…been trying to keep it going but no matter what I do it just seems to wilt! At first I think I was under watering it, then overwatering it and now I am just not sure! haha!

    • Happy New Year to you too Matthew! I went to a friends house party which was nice 🙂 How about you? Ah no – I think pointsettias can be temperamental. And you’re right about the watering – they are like the goldilocks of the plant world…..

      • Haha, yes I have found that out the hard way – working hard now on getting it back to life! Plant pot it is in is very nice so we can always use that for a new plant if it doesn’t make it. New Years was great – I have been at my mums & watched Kingsman which was a great film. Have you seen it? Really funny!

        • I think they just like a spot of water each day – I pour a little in and see how quickly the soil takes it in. If it soaks in quickly I’ll add a bit more. Glad you had a nice New Year. I’ve not seen Kingsman – I’ll have to give it a try. I’ve watched the first episode of Billions. It’s good – the characters are definitely multidimensional!

  • @james-barnett Hi James, just a small update to say that your admin area is now online 🙂

  • @james-barnett Hi James, I am updating the platform at the moment 🙂 The admin area won’t be online for a few more hours – I will let you know once it is back online 🙂

    • Hi Matthew, thanks for letting me know. I can see there have been lots of changes – looking good 🙂 Btw are you still on for dinner tomorrow evening?

  • Hi Rosie,

This can be a tricky situation…. like the others here, when I first started I was more prepared to give up my time for free and offered free trial/first lessons. Now I’m a bit busier, I don’t offer this but if I have an enquiry from someone similar to yours I might agree for them to come round so I can showcase my teaching…[Read more]
