About Drum Lessons Bristol

James Fuke, the Drum Lessons Bristol teacher
James is an experienced drum teacher & session drummer based in central Bristol.

Welcome to Drum Lessons Bristol! My name is James Fuke and I am a professional drum teacher and session drummer based here in Bristol. I have been teaching drum students to rapidly learn to play the drums for over three years and would be delighted to help you to learn to play the drums as well. Here is a summary of my lessons:

  • Lessons £30 per hour
  • Experienced, qualified drum teacher
  • Young Students & Adults Welcome
  • Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced Drummers Taught

I am a qualified drum teacher, having gained a BA (Hons) in Professional Musicianship. This academic music training is combined with many years experience as a session drummer, working in many bands across the South-West. I blend all of this experience into my 1-2-1 private drum lessons, giving students high-quality drum tuition that they really enjoy.

My drum lessons are held in a dedicated studio in central Bristol, with my students travelling from across Bristol for weekly sessions. I am a firm believer in helping my students to progress significantly between lessons, setting them individually tailored home tasks that focus on getting the most out of practice time. This approach is extremely effective, especially for students who have limited practice time.

If you are interested in rapidly progressing your drum playing through individually tailored drum lessons then get in touch to speak with me more.

Lessons & Costs

As a professional drum teacher, I work extremely hard to create individually tailored courses of drum lessons. With each lesson being ideally suited to my student’s learning requirement and musical interests. This means that I cover a wide range of different musical genres, including Pop, Rock, Funk, Blues, Jazz and Latin musical genres.

My drum lessons incorporate these styles, focusing on the music that my student enjoys listening to. The lessons also serve as a great introduction to new musical styles. Indeed, I really enjoy introducing my students to new styles of music, broadening their musical horizons. This holistic approach to drumming means that I can draw on the very best techniques, theories and exercises to rapidly progress a student’s drumming ability.

I welcome students of all playing abilities; including beginner, intermediate and advanced students. For beginner students, I have developed a fantastic course of foundation drum lessons. This specialised drum course gives you the skill set needed to nail basic drum beats, using the entire kit with confidence and ease.

I teach young learners from the age of five upwards, as well as adults. My lessons are charged at £30 per hour. For more information about my drum lessons in Bristol simply get in touch by emailing me via [email protected].

Testimonials

As an experienced session drummer, I have had the good fortune to tour the UK with original artists. Performing shows as well as recording music across an array of different music styles. I bring all of this experience to my drum lessons and really enjoy exploring new genres with my students.

The testimonial that I am most proud of came from Rob Brian, a session drummer who has worked with Goldfrapp, Simple Minds and Miles Kane (among many others!). Rob reflected that “James is forward thinking drummer, he takes the styles and techniques that are available to him and fuses them together to make a sound that has a footing in both the past and the future. His playing is solid and he can be very inventive too.” This testimonial really captured what my drumming is all about, learning from the drumming greats to create something new.

Come and join the growing numbers of drum students I teach in Bristol who are thoroughly enjoying this approach to learning. To book your first lesson, or simply find out more about Drum Lessons Bristol, you can email me on [email protected].

My drum students often ask me where is the best music stores to buy drum equipment in Bristol. Thankfully, Bristol is home to several good drum shops! First to check out should be PMT Bristol, opened in May 2010. They have a huge selection of drum kits, cymbals, hardware, stands and other drumming paraphernalia.
