My Mission
Fun and Informative Lessons

I take pride in ensuring that my lessons are kept informative and insightful but also fun at the same time. I believe that learning an instrument should be fun and as such I will always try and keep it that way in my lessons. I think that having a relaxed and comfortable learning environment is crucial in order to progress on any instrument.

The lessons provided are specifically tailored to you and your musical goals. I understand that we all like different music and styles, and all want different things from playing an instrument so I like to make sure we are always learning songs and material that you enjoy to ensure the highest level of motivation.

My Lessons
Lessons Catered to all Styles and Genres

As well as playing the drums I also play the guitar and bass guitar so I consider myself a fairly well rounded general musician with a good understanding in a wide range of genres and styles across multiple instruments. This means that no matter whether you're into Blues and Jazz or Rock and Heavy metal, together we can structure a plan and start working towards your specific goals.

My lessons are also suited for all ages 7+. I understand that children learn in different ways to adults and will always adapt my lesson plan and approach to make sure it meets the needs of that specific student. No matter whether you're looking to play drums for the very first time or whether you're just looking to improve to that next level, the lessons provided can cater for all!

Prices:
£16 per 1/2 hour
£30 per hour

My Experience as a Teacher

I have been playing instruments and teaching them for many years since I was around 12 years old. I have performed gigs in various musical projects sometimes playing Drums and sometimes playing the guitar. I have been performing on stage since I was around 14 years old and I just love to play music.

I am a fully qualified and trained high school teacher holding a full PGCE qualification. In schools I offer rounded music classes which cover many different instruments as well as music theory and the behind the scenes. Working in schools has proven very useful in helping me to grow as a musician and to be able to work with such a huge range of students has been very beneficial.

My main areas of expertise lies with Pop and Rock but I do also have some experience playing Classical music and other genres like Blues and Funk. No matter what style of music you're into together we can explore the genres and styles and work through songs that you like in those styles.

More About My Lessons

I like to offer insightful lessons, thoroughly explaining the details behind the techniques and the songs that we will be working on, as well as giving you general performance hints and tips to help you grow as an all round musician.

The lessons provided will cover both the practical elements and the theoretical elements of music as I believe both sides of this play just as important of a role when it comes to drum playing. The lessons will help you explore deeper as a musician and help you train and develop your musical ear and abilities.

I feel that one of the best ways to learn an instrument is by studying and learning songs that you like, as this allows you to develop technique whilst being able to play a song you like at the end. The lessons will also cover some practice exercises such as rudiments to help you tighten up those skills.

Music Shops

Here is a list of some nearby Music stores that you can try for all your drumming needs.

Music Shops in Sunderland

I often get asked where can I go to pick up a new drum kit or other music related accessories. Below is a short list of some nearby music shops you can try.

Sunderland Music, located 3-4 Hudson Rd, Sunderland SR1 2AQ is a great music shop you can try. Here they have a good selection of drum kits as well as other needed accessories such as stools, headphones etc.

Drum Shop UK, is located a short drive away Unit 11 Industrial Rd, Washington NE37 2SF but is worth the short trip. As the name suggests this is a great place to try for all things drumming.

Newcastle Drum, is again a short drive away located Hertburn Industrial Estate, 11, Industrial Rd, Washington NE37 2SF. Sunderland itself doesn't have too many local music stores so this is another great one to drive to that will have everything you'll need.
