Exeter Young Strings
The Exeter Young Strings would be delighted for young pianists in the Devon area to join their piano trio or small chamber groups. Kirsty, the director of Exeter Young Strings, has reached out to us to let us know that they are currently trying to encourage more pianists to join chamber groups and are especially looking for a grade 7/8 pianist to complete the consort.
They are currently looking to recruit a pianist for the trio consort. Within this trio the cellist and violinist are both around the grade 8 standard, with the trio meeting at The Mint Methodist Church on Wednesday’s from 5.15 – 6.15 and costs £70 each per term. Younger groups meet at 4.30 and 5.15 for 45 mins for £60 per term.
The Exeter Young Strings do have a concert coming up on 21st March for the children’s mental health charity Young Minds. However, they are happy, as it is short notice, that the trio just plays something simple “as it would be lovely to have the piano trio take part”. With more rehearsal time the current players are keen to study Mendelssohn and Haydn trio and other similar works.
Exeter Young Strings run a variety of groups including theory,
small chamber groups for 7 – 19 year olds and musicianship training for 4 – 6 year olds.
If you have any pupils that would like to play with a small chamber group the Exeter Young Strings have groups of all standards from young beginners upwards. Kisty is “keen to encourage this as I feel string players get more opportunities and pianists often get overlooked” – so if you have a student or know of a pianist in Exeter who might be interested don’t hesitate to get in touch with Kirsty using the information below.
