German for Opera Singers
Bernd Hendricks is bringing his internationally toured workshop “German for Opera Singers” to the city of Cardiff on the 8th & 9th of December 2017.
Bernd is a German language consultant and writer, based in Berlin, who has given language workshops to singers in Berlin, Vienna and London. Participants of the Cardiff workshop will examine the linguistics of German libretti and Lieder, understand and express theatre vocabulary and stage directions, and learn about the German audition system from a Berlin-based singer via Skype.
During the workshop singers will be able;
- to brush up their German,
- to examine the linguistics of German libretti and Lieder,
- to understand and express theatre vocabulary and stage directions, and
- to learn about the German audition system from a Berlin-based singer via skype.
In addition, each day for two hours before or after the group session, Bernd will be available for individual sessions about the singers’ written audition requests and questions about the linguistics of arias or Lieder they are currently working on.
Feedback from singers has been extremely positive from other workshops that Bernd has held in cities like London, Vienna and Ariane auf Naxos. Indeed, you can watch the video above to hear first hand how singers have enjoyed taking part in these workshops.
The workshop will be open for everyone who sings, conducts, or directs. You can find out more about this workshop by visiting achichfuehls.wordpress.com or emailing bernducha@gmail.com.
Location: YMCA Plas Community Center, Roath Room, 2 Shakespeare Street, Cardiff.
Bernd has also written books on the subject, with “Ach ich fühl’s German for Opera Singers in Three Acts: Studying, Speaking, Singing” being a lighthearted guide to German that immerses you – singers, vocal students and vocal teachers – in one of the most important languages of your art.
