What my students say

& why they love my guitar lessons

Donald

'I have been playing mostly blues guitar for a few years, however, for Christmas, my daughter bought me Spanish guitar lessons with Martyn. This has proved to be the best present I have received in years. I have not had such an intense yet relaxing and enjoyable experience playing the guitar as I have had under the friendly, encouraging and PATIENT tutoring by Martyn.'

John

'My 12-year-old son, Lewis, received an award at school this week for ‘Achievement in Music’. This is a long way from the quiet, shy child who began lessons almost 3 years ago. This made me very proud and happy and I would like to thank Martyn for bringing him to this stage. He is very patient and understanding and always has a few tricks up his sleeve to make things simpler and once the student is ready he adds on a new challenge.'

'Thanks for another superb lesson Martyn, I really feel I’ve come on leaps an bounds in the short while I have had with your tuition. You make the lesson so easy to understand and my confidence is such that I just want to practice every spare moment I get. I just can’t wait to pick up the guitar and practice what we have covered. You teach with a huge amount of patience and I always feel relaxed with your guidance'

Local Guitar Teacher Tips:

Music Shops in Glasgow:

Glasgow is a wonderful city for guitar shopping. There is a great range of stores so you're sure to find whatever you might need.

In the city centre on Trongate is the ever helpful Guitar Guitar Glasgowr which is spread across 3 separate stores. One for acoustic, one for electric and one for pro audio. The staff are friendly and helpful and their prices are some of the best around. Not only are the staff fantastic, but they also have a great mail order selection on their website. Can't get to the store? No problem.

If you're chasing a vintage model with some charm then be sure to check out Strung Out Guitars. Based over in King Street, just a short walk from the St Enoch underground stop and with plenty of parking in the area, you're sure to find something interesting here.

Kenny's Music is also worth visiting. They stock wall to wall guitars, basses and everything else you can imaging. You won't have a hard time finding what you're looking for here, regardless of what you might be seeking.

Music Venues in Glasgow:

Glasgow is a city rich in music and there are plenty of great places to check out touring acts and bands of all sizes.

For the larger touring acts, check out the 02 Academy Glasgow. This 2,500 capacity venue is a staple for the touring artists. You can see some pretty big names gracing the stage here.

If you want a venue with some great vibe then you want to head over to The Barrowland Ballroom where you can catch some of the finest up and coming talent in the legendary 1900 capacity venue. This room has some serious vibes so get ready to party!

For those who prefer a smaller, more intimate affair, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut is the place for you. You won't get the biggest names in the business playing here, but this venue has hosted some of the worlds biggest names when they were on the way up. Everyone from Florence and the Machine to Paolo Nutini to The View to Oasis and the Manic Street Preachers have graced this stage. You could be seeing the next big thing.
