All people should feel the benefits of playing a musical instrument, that is why I offer lessons to students of all ages and abilities. I recommend children begin learning from the age of 6+.
I am pleased to offer lessons in any style of music my student chooses. This means you can learn instrumental technique whilst playing some of the music you love.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I welcome beginner and advanced learners. I wil make a lesson plan that suits your goals and ability level.
I am a professional piano teacher and performing musician previously based in Southampton but now in Cardiff. I have many years of experience teaching the piano to adults and children 1:1, and also experience in teaching large groups of people such as choirs and ensembles.
As of 2016, I completed my BA (Hons) Music degree from the University of Southampton and also completed the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Jazz and Rock Week course under the guidance of Jazz artists such as Jason Rebello and Scott Stroman. I am a classical and jazz-trained pianist with ample experience in performing and composing professionally.
Examples of my work include: I was commissioned to compose and perform for ‘The Jutland Legacy Conference in Portsmouth’ 2017 and perform for ‘Dickens Festival of Christmas’ 2017, 2018, both at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. I have also worked as an assistant choirmaster.
I take on a student-focused approach to my teaching. We will discuss your favourite music and your piano playing goals and I will create a tailored plan of lessons to ensure you progress and have fun doing it.
I have vast knowledge in a wide variety of genres such as Classical, Jazz, Folk and Pop, and is happy to accommodate according to what the student would like to learn. If your desire is to progress through the grades or just learn for fun, all are welcome.
If you would like to achieve your goals and progress rapidly at learning the piano in a relaxed setting, I would be delighted to help you. Get in touch to book your first lesson today!
Cardiff has always had a great music scene and it has a fair few music shops to back that up as well. Here are a few I would recommend.
Gamlins Music Centre, is a family run music shop with a wide range of pianos to offer. A good place to buy beginner piano learners their first instrument as there are vintage and used pianos on offer. The Music Centre is located at 56 St Mary Street, Cardiff, CF10 1FE.
PMT Cardiff, based at 52-54 St Mary Street, Cardiff, CF10 1FE, there are latest synthesizers, MIDI keyboards and digital pianos on offer from the world's leading brands like Korg, Moog, Nord, Novation, Roland and Yamaha.
Gardner Pianos, offer a range of new, digital and second-hand pianos to music learners and experienced musicians. Piano services like piano restoration/tuning/hire/removals & storage are also available. The showroom can be found at 266 North Road, Cardiff, CF14 3BL.
I'm a professional performer and player who can help you supercharge your understanding of music and the way you play the piano.
