Book lessons with professional piano teacher Beth Hopkins
Hello! I'm Beth Hopkins, a professional piano teacher based in Greenwich. I offer high-quality piano lessons to students of all ages.
I am an extremely professional teacher and I will make sure you get the most out of your lessons to the best of my ability.
I will always make sure I listen to what you want to learn and then design a lesson plan that suits your needs.
I teach a wide array of genres and I personally love all styles of music and always make sure this reflects in my teaching.
I teach students from ages 4+. I have a vast amount of experience in teaching students of all ages.
Amazing piano lessons in the centre of Greenwich made with the student's interests in mind.
My half-hour lessons are best suited to my younger learners as I feel sometimes that an hour can be too long. These lessons are also best suited to students who prefer to learn little and often. In that case, I would recommend two half-hour lessons per week.
This is by far my most popular option with all ages of student. I think that an hour per week is enough to see some real progress over a short space of time. If you want to know more about my lessons please send me an email.
'Beth Hopkins was my first teacher. I enjoyed all our lessons. She was so helpful and encouraging and also a lovely young lady to spend my lessons with. She was a very helpful professional teacher and would help me with anything I asked. Even replying to my text messages asking extra questions. I was sad when she left Southampton to go to London and really missed her. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Beth to anyone.'
'Following retirement, I decided to go for my grade 6 piano, which I had failed 46 years earlier! Beth was absolutely central to my passing the exam. Beth is an outstanding teacher and a pleasure to be taught by. She is calm, patient, warm and assured and is very clear and concise on what needs improving, and how to do so. It comes across in her teaching that she has a real love and appreciation of music and an innate musicality as well as an excellent understanding of the technical aspects. Beth brings real energy and creativity to her lessons and is full of ideas on how to tailor lessons to suit you and bring the best out of you. And it was fun! I couldn't recommend Beth more highly.'
'I had such a great time with Beth, unfortunately, she moved away. We started with singing lessons that went on until the day I had a bad throat and I asked her to give me a few tips on how to play the piano. Then I did some piano lessons for a period and mixed with singing in the end. She is very flexible and talented. I had lots of fun in the classes.'
I am an extensively experienced teacher who has been teaching for around 3 years. I have also been gigging regularly for around 6 years, playing in ensembles covering almost any genre you can think of. I also love to write my own music when I have spare time.
I will always make sure my students enjoy every lesson that they take with me. Enjoying learning to play is one of the most important aspects of becoming a great player.
I am a qualified teacher having achieved a First from Southampton University in Music (BA) in 2016. I have also achieved Grade 8 Saxophone (Distinction), Grade 7 Singing, Grade 6 Piano, Grade 5 Theory & Grade 1 Clarinet.
I will always make sure we focus on the music and genres that you love. The best way to learn is via music that you are familiar with so this is the reason it is so important to learn the artists you enjoy.
I currently take the majority of my lessons from my home teaching studio Greenwich, London, SE8 3JP. This is a great place to learn as I have created a homely and relaxed environment where you can feel at home whilst learning.
I also do mobile teaching which means it is possible for me to travel to you for lessons. If you want to know more about this option, please send me an email.
Piano Shops in Greenwich:
There are a few options when it comes to music shops in or near Greenwich which I will discuss below. However, if you want more options I would recommend travelling further into London.
One of the best choices in the area that has a wide range of instruments would be Normans Music. If you are looking to get started with any kind of instrument then they will have a wide range of options available for you. You can find them on 32 Well Hall Rd, London SE9 6SF.
The other shop available close by would be Eric Lyndsay Ltd. This shop is located on 20-22 Rushey Green, London SE6 4JF and stocks a wide range of musical instruments from guitars to pianos and everything else in-between.
Music Courses in Greenwich:
There are a few music-based courses in Greenwich that I will discuss here. Again similar to music shops. If you want more choice I would recommend travelling further.
One of the most obvious options for those who want to pursue music in further education would be at Greenwich University. The music course is great for those who want to expand their knowledge of the music industry and music business. They also have a music production course which is also a great option.
The only other option I can think of that comes to mind for younger learners that want to be involved with music would be Greenwich Music School who offer the chance for young learners to immerse themselves in music and learn about performing live etc.
I would be delighted to help you to learn to play the piano. Get in touch to find out more about my piano lessons in Greenwich.
