I prefer to take half-hour lessons with my students because I feel that little and often is the key to productive learning. I would recommend half-hour lessons once a week.

What my students say

& why they love my piano lessons

Elizabeth Mazonowicz

'Neil has been teaching my son Ben for the past 6 months. I sit in on the lessons and I have to say the lessons are brilliant. Neil is so patient and really seems to connect with Ben encouraging him all the time. I have seen Ben’s confidence grow and lessons with Neil has really helped that.'

Sian Lavin

'Neil is an outstanding teacher. I started learning with him back in September this year and I thoroughly enjoy our lessons together. I’m sure everyone says it but Neil is very patient and doesn’t mind telling me the same thing over and over until I get it. I’ve always wanted to learn too play the piano from when I was a little girl, now I’m retired I have the time and love it.'

Alex Govier

'As a complete beginner Neil’s patience has been the making of me progressing as far as I can. We have moved onto learning classical music in the last few weeks which I choose to do and the pieces are really beginning to take shape. I cannot recommend Neil highly enough as a teacher.'

About Your New
Piano Teacher

Friendly, helpful and focused on helping you to rapidly learn how to play the piano.

I'm a highly qualified teacher who has achieved grade 8 in theory and piano as well as being an accomplished composer and writer. I have over 20 years teaching experience and currently have a 100% exam pass rate.

I have a clear teaching style. That is to make sure I focus on quality rather than quantity whilst making sure my students are learning the correct way with the correct technique.

I am a very patient guy as I realise we all have to start somewhere, this really reflects in my teaching style. I will also make sure we take the time to focus on some music that you are interested in.

Beginner players are more than welcome to attend lessons. I have a wealth of experience with students who started with me as beginners & over the years have become great players.

Location of Lessons

I teach the majority of my lessons take place from my home teaching space located in The Paddocks, SN3 4PS. It is a great place to learn to play the piano because I have created a calm and relaxed environment for my students. I have all the relevant books and equipment for the lessons to take place here.

My place is very accessible via public transport as well. Take the number 7 which runs every ten mins and get off at the New Inn stop. From here my place is only a short walk.

My full teaching address will be provided upon your first lesson booking.

Local Piano Teacher Tips:

Music Shops in Swindon:

There is a wide range of great music shops in the local area. One of my favourites has to be Holmes Music on Faringdon Road, SN1 5AR. This place has a wide range of instruments for all learners on offer

Another go-to place for me would always be Kempster & Son based on Commercial Road, SN1 5PL. This is a small place that offers a wide range of musical instruments for every style. From piano music to guitar pedals they will definitely have it.

Lastly and probably the most local typed store would be Brian Taylor Music on High St, SN4 7AB. This again is a very small shop that has a great range of guitars as well as an extensive sheet music collection.

Music Courses in Swindon:

There is a wide range of further educational options in the area. Probably the most obvious option would be The Academy Of Music who offer high-quality degree style courses for the music lover.

Another option for some of the younger learners who are looking to take their passion for music further would be Swindon College who have some great music based courses on offer for all levels of musician.

Lastly if you just want to be involved in music or join a band and be part of musical performances then I would recommend the Swindon Music Cooperative. They particularly promote young people getting involved with music and help many young learners understand the basics of music.
