My Mission

High-Quality Piano Lessons

I offer piano lessons suited for complete beginners, helping them to learn how to play the piano by playing the music that inspires them. My teaching style provides a holistic approach to learning music, giving my students the skills to play with confidence and ability.

I have BA in Music from the University of York, as well as a Music A level, and have been teaching students to play a variety of different instruments for many years now. I would be delighted to help you or your child to learn to play the piano.

My Lessons

Ages 6+

I welcome students from the ages of 6 years old and upwards, including adult learners. I can help students with no prior experience to learn to play the piano, teaching them the core skills required to enjoy playing.

I cover a wide range of different musical genres, blending different styles of music into our lessons to ensure the music that you learn is inspiring. I also provide structured technical exercises and homework, to ensure you really get the most out of your piano tuition.

Prices:

£20 per half hour
£30 per 3/4 hour
£40 per hour

Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

My Experience as a Teacher

As a musician I have learn, performed and taught for many years. My background is with electric and double bassist, an instrument that I have played for well over 15 years now.

During this time I have loved working in the pit with some of York’s biggest Musical Theatre companies, performing with big bands & function bands & jazz bands, and serving in church worship teams.

I have also gained a degree from the University of York in Music (BA). I draw upon all of this musical experience as a teacher, helping my students to learn through carefully planned lessons suited to their individual learning requirements.

I hold enjoyment above all other aspects when learning something new. I will always make sure you enjoy learning the piano as I really feel this is the key building block to making progress in your playing.

I like to build my lessons around music that you are familiar with and around the music that you enjoy. This is one of the best ways to learn and improve over a short space of time.

So far during my teaching career, I have had really positive results with my students - including those who have s taking grade exams (Rockschool/Trinity/ABRSM).

How much do lessons cost?

My lessons are charged at £20 per half hour lesson, £30 per 3/4 hour and £40 per hour lesson.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged full price.
