My Experience as a Teacher

I am a Certified Teacher of the Royal Schools of Music and were awarded the status with the highest classification of Excellent. I graduated with a first-class honours degree in Education and passed the Diploma of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in Vocal Teaching with Distinction.

Educated at Chetham's, I won an entrance scholarship at seventeen to study at the RNCM and subsequently worked as a session singer at the BBC and with several opera companies at home and abroad which included five years at Scottish Opera.

I have diplomas in piano and pipe organ performance, piano teaching, singing and written diplomas in music theory and composition. I also have completed the Level 1 and 2 courses in the Estill Voice Model and currently have students studying Musical Theatre at Arts Ed, GSA, Italia Conti and Mountview. I have worked with several professional artists in the pop music industry and my pop vocals students have a 100% success rate of passing Grade 8 Popular Music with Distinction.

More About My Lessons

I teach a variety of students of all ages and abilities how to sing, from learning your favourite songs so sing as a hobby, or to pass grade exams or auditions for music schools I am confident I can help you.

My pop vocals students have a 100% success rate of passing Grade 8 Popular Music with Distinction. I currently has piano students at all levels from grade 1 to post grade 8.

I am a qualified music teacher, having achieved a Certified Teacher of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (awarded with the highest classification of Excellent), Diploma of the Associated Board in Vocal Teaching (awarded with Distinction), BA(Hons) in Education (awarded with First Class Honours) and many other qualifications in music education to help my students to improve all aspects of singing both for amateur and professional singers.

PMT Cardiff is located a short trip away at 52-54 St Mary Street, CF10 1FE. PMT are one of the leading music chain retailers in the UK. They have a huge selection of in store and online stock from electric and acoustic guitars, pianos, basses and drums. Alongside this they have a huge variety of stock for vocalists, such as live microphones and PA systems for live performance alongside studio microphones and home recording equipment.

Gamlins Music are located on 56 St Mary St, Cardiff CF10 1FE. Gamlins are a family run business providing instruments and accessories to the musicians and singers of Wales. Here you can find PA, microphones and a selection of sheet music and lyric books.

How much do lessons cost?

Lessons are £17.50 per half hour and £34 for an hour of dedicated 1-2-1 tuition.

Where do the lessons take place?

I am a mobile teacher, meaning I actually travel to the homes or locations of my students. I also offer online lessons, get in touch for more information.

What ages do you teach?

I teach students of all ages and abilities from 8+.

Do I have to attend lessons every week?

I recommend all students take lessons weekly for maximum progress in a shorter space of time, however I am happy to take fortnightly lessons if that suits you.

What happens if I have to cancel a lesson?

At Singing Lessons Cwmbran, we operate a 48 hour cancellation policy. This means if you need to cancel a lesson, please give me at least 48 hours notice. If a lesson is cancelled within 48 hours of the start date it will be charged at full lesson fee.
