Sam Wilde

I am a professional Singer/Songwriter who has been performing and playing for many years! I currently sing in two bands one of which is a solo project that I have been developing for some time. I have been teaching Singing for many years and have worked with students of all abilities and vocal ranges.

I teach students of all ages from 7+ as i find this is a good age to begin real development. No prior skills are necessary so if you're looking to start from the beginning or further tune your voice my lessons can cater for this!

With my many years performing and playing expereince I have covered and studied a wide range of genres. This means that no matter what style of music you enjoy, the lessons will be tailored to suit your individual style and needs.

As you are your own instrument with singing, my lessons have a huge focus on healthy singing. Ensuring good habits and practices early on to make sure no damage is made to the vocal cords in the long term! We all want to be able to sing for a long time, a guitar can be restrung, but our voices are different! Healthy practice is key.

1/2 Hour Lessons

Half-hour lessons are available to everyone but are ideal for beginners or those with busier schedules. These tend to suit younger learners who may find learning to sing easier in more bite-sized amounts.

1 Hour Lessons

One-hour slots provide a good amount of time for teaching and allow more in-depth and thorough explanation. These sessions are best for ensuring steady and real progress. I would recommend an hours lesson once per week for the best results.

About Your New
Singing Teacher

I try to keep my lessons as fun and relaxing for the student as possible all the while keeping the sessions informative and exciting!

I have been singing now since I was very young. In this time I have studied and performed in a huge range of styles and genres which allows me to cater and tailor the lessons to whatever the student needs. I am currently a songwriter and performer for two separate musical projects one of which is a solo project of my own. The lessons provided are designed to cater for students of all vocal abilities and ranges.

I am a graduate who has achieved a Degree in Popular Music and Singing. I have currently achieved and completed my grade 5 music theory exam which covered a huge range of popular styles and artists. This allows me to provide lessons that are suited and tailored to each individual student, no matter their musical tastes or background.

When learning to sing we all look for slightly different things as our voices are so unique to ourselves. As a result, it's important to find your own voice and sound in a way that suits you. This means singing the songs you like, by the artists that you like. I am a confident singer in a wide range of different styles, so no matter what you're in to or what you listen to these lessons are tailored to your exact needs.

As your teacher, my ultimate goal is to share my own passion for singing with you and to help you on your journey to achieve those singing dreams! Whether this be to learn to sing from the beginning, or to perfect that karaoke/shower singing voice or to take it all the way and learn to sing on a professional level, I am excited to play a part in your journey.

Local Singing Teacher Tips:

Music Shops in Leeds:

Leeds is a great city for musicians as we're spoilt for choice in the number of reputable music shops. There are a good few that are worth looking at, but here's a short list of some of the most well known:

Dawsons Music Leeds is a great stop for any musician looking for instruments or equipment. They have an impressive store full of kit, including singing studio equipment (digital recorders, microphones, headphones) and PA systems (speakers, mixers and other accessories). The shop is located at 113 Vicar Lane, Leeds, LS1 6PJ.

Located at 13 Eastgate, LS2 7LY, Hobgoblin Music Leeds is a local branch of another established national brand and is an easy place to find good quality equipment. They stock a healthy selection of microphones and various amplification equipment & accessories.

PMT Leeds have a number of microphones and processors listed on their website at a wide range of prices. They have cheaper items ideal for beginners all the way up to studio-quality microphones and sound processors, allowing you to pick and choose to find the sound you're looking for. You can find them at 9 Kirkstall Road, LS3 1LH.

Music Courses in Leeds:

Having studied areas of music and performance myself, I believe a course in music is a fantastic way of turning your passion into a career. Leeds has a number of high-quality institutions that offer various music programmes:

The University of Leeds offers courses in music at undergraduate, masters and PhD level, and is an All-Steinway institution for music: an award that recognises support for students with the highest quality equipment. They also offer combined honours degrees for those wanting to study music and develop other areas of interest at the same time.

Leeds College of Music offer both higher and further education courses in music in short and long course formats. This means LCM is accessible for students as young as 16, and allows you to pick the type of course that you feel is right for you: whether this be evening classes or a short course that develops a specific area of interest, or a full music qualification that gives you a broad range of knowledge and experience.

Leeds Art University offers a course in popular music performance, which is a three-year course that provides students with collaborative performance opportunities with other students across a range of disciplines, with a focus on live performance skills through workshops and 1-to-1 tuition.
