Teacher's Biography:

I love to teach beginners and improvers and specialise in adults either returning to music or following their dream of learning to sing or play. I'm relaxed and will work at whatever rate you are happy to follow – whether that's a steady pace or a specific timed challenge. I believe it's important to remember that you are paying for a service, so you are free to set the pace and format of lessons.

I'm happy to work through the traditional tutor books and exam processes or just play or sing pieces of any genre to improve your technique. I should warn you that I'm a big fan of scales for flute players! I can offer music theory lessons alongside practical sessions or as a stand-alone option.

I'm at home with the Classics, but also regularly perform jazz, pop and show tunes. I believe it’s important to experience music from a range of genres to widen your musical experience and if you are studying towards an exam, I will encourage you to play and sing outside your selected syllabus as much as possible.

Music Qualifications / Achievements:

I was fortunate to have received excellent music tuition throughout my school life and, having taken GCSE music, moved on to A-Level and then to De Montfort University, where I achieved a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts, specialising in music, particularly the flute but also studying early music, orchestral playing, percussion and music history as well as Alexander Technique to improve posture when playing or singing.

I hold Grade 8 in Flute, Singing and Music Theory and Grade 5 saxophone. I currently working towards further qualifications in all my instruments as well as others, including clarinet and piano.

My proudest musical achievement was singing in the Mozart Requiem in Carnegie Hall, but every performance is a chance to share my love of making music.
