My name is David Sugden and I am a professional drum teacher and session musician from Essex. I began studying the drums from the age of four, quickly working my way to Grade 8 with Trinity College London.
I currently have both an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in music, having studied with world-renowned teachers and musicians such as Bob Armstrong (Tom Jones, Cilla Blank,The Four Tops), Clark Tracey (Stan Tracey, Claire Martin,Kenny Wheeler) and Andrew Bain (Wynton Marsalis,Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman).
I began teaching in 2006 whilst at the University of Essex, where I developed a successful teaching studio. In 2012 I relocated to Birmingham for my postgraduate studies, where I continue to run a private drum tuition business, whilst also working as an active jazz musician.
I believe my extensive experience in all aspects of the music industry makes me an exceptional teacher, and I pride myself on my friendly and effective teaching style. I teach all ages and abilities, and tailor every lesson to the individual needs of each student, ensuring that every student develops with confidence.
