Teacher's Biography:

Expert Advice
With over 12 years of teaching experience, 30 years of playing experience, a 1st class BA (Hons) degree and a PhD in music, I'll help you avoid the common mistakes and (providing you practise!) turn you into a great drummer.

Personised Tuition
I try to bring out the best in everyone. Tuition is conducted in a friendly manner, tailored to the individual, with the initial aim of developing a strong technique.

Broad Foundations
All aspects of drumming are covered, including different genres (e.g., rock, jazz, blues, reggae, latin), rudiments, technique, musicianship, playing to music, reading music, theory, and much more.

Trinity Drum Exams
You don't have to take exams but I believe it's the best way to get motivated. Graded examinations offer a brilliant way of tracking your own progress. Learning is structured and accumulative, with each new grade building upon the previous one. Needless to say, you will be in safe hands.

Music Qualifications / Achievements:

"My son began drum lessons with Richard at age 8 as a total beginner. Over the next few years, he took his Trinity Drum kit gradings reaching grade 8 at age 16. [He] always enjoyed learning and developing as a drummer with Richard's help." - Parent
