   Im Ethan and I’m one of his students, Since I’ve started I have to say that I couldn’t ask for anymore than I’m getting from his lessons! I had already had experience in guitar from playing at school but we weren’t moving along anywhere due to the amount of people in the group, so having a private tuition has improved my skill in chords, melody’s and scales and am already on my GRADE 2.

   Richard has been teaching me for 5 yrs now, he comes to my house and i am learning the acoustic guitar. He shows me respect and listens to my opinions whilst maintaining the teacher/pupil relationship and I now see him as my friend.

   He even manages to get us all together once a year to do a showcase of all his pupils work- and we get to see his brilliant band ‘ Freeze’
   When i want to learn a new song he will ‘tab’ it out for me, and we learn it together, I also sing some songs and Richard actively encourages this. He is always encouraging us to do talent shows and gigs, but never to pushy. I have recommended him to my friends, he is brilliant, a very gifted guitarist. He has got me up to grade 5 with RGT.

   What more can i say really, its great that Richard comes to the house, you get to ‘hear’ how your child is doing! Like Abi, Richard has become a friend, and his professionalism is an asset.

   I have been taking one to one guitar lessons from Richard for almost a year now and have been very impressed with the quality of the service he has provided to date.
   Rich has the ability to quickly gauge and tailor his teaching approach to match the level of the student and supplements this with good materiel and handouts to help promulgate practice. His patience and gentle approach to teaching, his motivation, guidance, skills and knowledge that he brings to the one-to-one session is highly admirable, and all in the convenience of your home.
   I definitely recommend Rich if you are looking for a good quality & professional guitar teacher.

   Could not wish for a more enthusiastic and encouraging tutor, I look forward to my lessons every week with anticipation. Richard is great at helping you get the most out of your guitar and gear and goes out of his way to get you started and improve.
   I always wanted to play Albatross and now I can with other pieces and I now have a deeper understanding of the pentatonic scales. Would recommend 100%.

   Rich Hillyer is a very accomplished guitarist, he was such a pleasure to work with and I was very pleased with his recording on my track. I would highly recommend him to anyone and I really look forward to working with him again.
