Description

Teacher’s Biography:

If you are interested in fun vocal lessons that will make you grow, you are in the right place. If you have ever had a bad experience learning music before, stressful lessons, getting tense and straining the voice, low self-esteem or somebody telling you-you cannot do it – let me help you find joy through singing again.

Whether you prefer jazz, classical, pop, rock, musical theatre, death metal, or other styles, I am happy to teach them all. All styles of music are beautiful and I would encourage you to experiment or try out your voice in different ones. I am qualified to teach ages 5 – 99 through music grades 1 – 8 (ABRSM; Trinity; Rockschool), as well as University level and beyond. I have experience teaching individually as well as in an ensemble and class of 30.

I believe in positive reinforcement techniques and making lessons fun, at whatever level. While vocals would be the main subject of lessons, we would also cover music theory and other subjects.

We would focus on:
• Pitching – singing in tune
• Developing tone and range
• Switching from chest, head and mixed voice
• Different breathing techniques
• Expanding repertoire and different styles
• Lyrical interpretation
• Understanding harmony
• Basic instrumental (piano / guitar / bass) skills
• Acting, stage confidence
• Public speech, audience interaction
• Personal development
• Self-analysis

You are the boss, and I will make sure the programme, pace, style suits you, is challenging, yet fun and rewarding.

My ultimate goal is for you be able to make your own musical decisions, improve with self-feedback and give you the tools to become your own teacher.

Music Qualifications / Achievements:

I am an active London based jazz singer, running a 7-piece jazz-funk-fusion band, as well as participating in various jazz/pop bands and ensembles. I perform regularly at jazz clubs, such as Spice of Life, Jazz Cafe POSK, as well as London Jazz Festivals.

Having studied classical vocals at Lithuania’s National Music Conservatoire for 4 years I realised that Jazz was not just a fling, but a deep burning passion and my soon to be profession. In pursuit of this career, I came to London College of Music to study Jazz Vocals with the amazing Tina May, Iain MacKenzie, Pete Cook and Pete Churchill. I have graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music with Honours First Class degree and have been awarded a First Class Licentiate of the London College of Music. Recently in 2016 finished a Masters MMus degree in Music Performance through a Scholarship programme with Distinction.

Willow is the perfect teacher for my Daughter Rhea. So energetic and encouraging which is perfect for my usually shy teenager, there are no barriers when Willow and Rhea are singing!
