This will then bring up music teachers of the instrument that you have selected within 0 to 15 miles of your location.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”It Says “No Results Found“ – why is this?” tab_id=”1483434066866-4c4f83a7-4acb”][vc_column_text]Unfortunately, that means that we do not have a teacher within our database that matches your search. However, our database is continuing to expand with new teachers signing up all the time – hopefully we will have the right music teacher for your search shortly for you.

In the meantime we recommend Googling *Instrument Lessons Location*, so for example “Guitar Lessons Leicester” if you were looking for a guitar teacher in Leicester, to find suitable music teachers near you.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is a Basic Disclosure / Standard DBS / Enhanced DBS / Standard Disclosure / Access NI / Garda Vetting?” tab_id=”1483213509497-4dc22aa5-65ab”][vc_column_text]The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) prevents unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). By a teacher saying that they hold a valid DBS check (or equivalent for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland) this means that they have undergone independent checks to ensure that they are suitable to work with vulnerable groups, including children.

We recommend asking the teacher to send to you as scan of their DBS certification before booking the first lesson for your child.

There are different levels of certifications, including a “Basic Disclosure“, “Standard DBS“, “Enhanced DBS“. There are also different certifications for Scotland (Standard Disclosure), Northern Ireland (Access NI) and the Republic of Ireland (Garda Vetting).

You can read more about the Disclosure and Barring Service on the Gov.UK website. To find out more about a specific type of certification please click on the names above which will take you through to a website with more information about that certification.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”How do you vet teachers listed on mgrmusic.com? If you have a questions that is not covered in the list below please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at info@mgrmusic.com.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion shape=”round” active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Is it free to be featured on the mgrmusic.com website?” tab_id=”1484823118263-42059909-a8ae”][vc_column_text]Yes, it is free for music teachers to have their profiles featured on the mgrmusic.com website. To apply to have your profile featured on the mgrmusic.com website head over to the Teacher Sign Up page.

Profile on the mgrmusic.com website are beautifully designed to present the music teacher in the best possible light to students – generating them as many students as possible. You can see an example profile below:

Leo Wood - Example mgrmusic.com Teacher Profile

Here at mgrmusic.com we work incredibly hard making profiles for teachers that are well designed and appealing to music students.

Please note you will be asked to submit suitable images of yourself teaching or performing music before your profile goes live (we do this via email as the file size is too large for the sign up form). Also note that applications are not automatically accepted and you might be asked to provide further information before your application is accepted.

We do have premium “locational pages”, for example, mgrmusic.com/guitar-lessons-manchester/, that provide teachers with a higher number of enquiries each month. To be featured on these premium pages there is a small cost, however, this is entirely optional for a teacher to ask to be featured on a “locational page”.

mgrmusic.com is about building a large community of music teachers across all instruments located both in the UK and further afield, on a platform that is clean and user-friendly – I believe that there is real value to create these communities both for teachers and students, without charging teachers to sign up or commission on the students at this stage.

If built in the right way then in some point in the future there will be such value being part of this community that individuals will contribute to the continuation of that community. My desire to build communities therefore is more important than monetary income. This policy won’t change for the duration of 2017 and 2018, with me reviewing it in 2019 to see where the community as a whole is at and whether it provides enough value to part or the entire community that they wish to see it continue. Should individual teachers wish to support it at an earlier stage they would be most welcome to. Ultimately I want to create the best platform for music teachers, students and music organisations in the UK.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Do the students get charged a fee when they seek to make contact or book their first lesson?” tab_id=”1497867214837-68012285-0613″][vc_column_text]No, there is no fee to students as they enquire or book lessons – all enquiries come through to me and are then forwarded onto the relevant teacher to their personal email.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is a Basic Disclosure / Standard DBS / Enhanced DBS / Standard Disclosure / Access NI / Garda Vetting?” tab_id=”1483216318186-eb53f6fb-7ad7″][vc_column_text]The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) prevents unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. By a teacher saying that they hold a valid DBS check (or equivalent for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland) this means that they have undergone independent checks to ensure that they are suitable to work with vulnerable groups, including children.

We recommend all music teachers to gain at minimum a Basic Disclosure. It is a mark of professionalism and by holding the relevant certification will increase the numbers of enquiries you will gain as parents take account of such certification when selecting a teacher.

To find out more about a specific type of certification please click on the names above which will take you through to a website with more information about that certification.

mgrmusic.com can help facilitate you undertaking certain DBS Certifications – for more information simply get in touch by emailing

These claims could include damage to property – whether it is your own home or a student’s house – or any injuries caused to a pupil in your care. PLI is a worst case scenario option, and as such you are unlikely you will have to use it during your time teaching. It is, however, an essential area of cover for any self-employed music tutor.

For more information about PLI please read our article on the importance of gaining PLI as a professional music teacher here: Public Liability Insurance For Music Teachers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Do I need Public Liability Insurance before my profile is accepted on mgrmusic.com?” tab_id=”1488877327876-ce8385c5-9fd2″][vc_column_text]No, we will still feature your profile on our website if you are a qualified and experienced music teacher even if you do not have Public Liability Insurance. However, we strongly recommend that you gain suitable Public Liability Insurance from a reputable company – for more information about Public Liability Insurance please read our article here: Public Liability Insurance for Teachers.

For teachers who do not have Public Liability Insurance their profiles will display N/A , under the “Additional Information” tab on their profiles so that students are aware that they are are not covered, making students better informed as to who they wish to be taught by.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I have my own personal email on my teacher profile?” tab_id=”1489044822783-5abd8446-a0a4″][vc_column_text]All teacher emails displayed on the website are namesurname@mgrmusic.com, for example elizafyfe@mgrmusic.com, to prevent teachers getting inundated with spam / fraudulent emails.

We will forward through all the enquiries that come in for your personal email. It also means that we build up a working relationship with the teachers we feature as we are in touch with them as / when they get enquiries – meaning that we can touch base to ensure that the information on the website is up to date and they are still active music teachers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I have my mobile number displayed on my teacher profile?” tab_id=”1501162439579-ad0cb03d-1406″][vc_column_text]We do not include teachers mobile phone numbers on the teacher profile pages due to the high number of spam / nuisance calls that result for the teacher. We will collect the student’s phone number if they contact through the enquiry form on the right had side of the page of your profile (should they wish to provide it), meaning that you can call the student directly once an enquiry comes through.

If they email in then it depends on whether a student wished to leave their number or not – both forms of enquiry will be sent to your personal email to follow up with the student, meaning you can respond to them via email or phone (if applicable) without having to worry about receiving unwanted emails / calls yourself.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
