Palace Drum Clinic – May 2018
We are delighted to feature the May Palace Drum Clinic as a must-attend event for drum students and teachers. Held at the Redditch Palace Theatre, this months Palace Drum Clinic will include a session from Colin Woolway – one of the country’s leading drum tutors.
Colin Woolway is an extremely experienced drummer and drum tutor, having taught professionally since 1976. Over the years he has drummed in “every kind of situation, from stadium tours with 30,000 people at every show, to scout huts and muddy gardens”. As a drum teacher, he is well known for being the founder of the Drumsense Teaching programme. Drumsense is a teaching approach that utilises drumming resources and core playalong material that experienced professional drummers and drums teachers have selected to help students rapidly progress.
Alongside Drumsense, Colin has also written monthly columns for Rhythm Magazine for over 20 years. He currently runs a private drum teaching practice in Twickenham. Teaching drum students at The Brit School and East London Arts Music (ELAM). Thie wealth of knowledge, both as a successful professional drummer and as an experienced drum educator, will make this month’s Palace Drum Clinic of huge interest to drummers of all levels. The May 2018 Palace Drum Clinic will take place at The Studio, Redditch Palace Theatre, Alcester Street, Redditch, B98 8AE. With doors opening at 19.30pm. As with every clinic, there is an opportunity for drummers of any ability to “Apply to Play”, giving an audience drummer chance to perform in front of some of the UK’s leading drum educators and professionals.
The Palace Drum Clinic has been developed by Matt Green, a versatile percussionist with a passion for helping drummers to learn “from the best in the business”. The clinics have quickly developed a fantastic reputation for being an outstanding educational event. Where drummers of all abilities can join the wider drumming community. This community focus of the Palace Drum Clinic is a core aspect of why the event has been so successful since Matt launched it, after all how often do 40+ drummers normally get together to share ideas, knowledge and tips.
