The Dalesmen Male Voice Choir – Student Competition
We are delighted to announce that The Dalesmen Male Voice Choir are holding a competition for musicians in Years 12 & 13 at school – with the chance to win £400!
The competition will be held at The Strutts Centre, Derby Road, Belper, Derbyshire on Saturday 7th April 2018 and is sponsored by The Dalesmen Male Voice Choir.
The Dalesmen Male Voice Choir were formed in 1987 in Derbyshire, growing to a 70 strong choir who perform over 12 times a year to audiences of all sizes. They are proud to entertain many hundreds of people each year and do a terrific job raising money for charity in the process. Alongside the annual competition that they run for students, usually in their final year of secondary education, the choir also join other choirs nationally to perform across the country.
The competition itself will offer a prize of £400 for the winning student, a prize of £150 for the student in second place, and a prize of £75 for the student in third place.
To enter this competition, a candidate needs to:
- Live or are being educated in Derbyshire
- Currently in Year 12 or 13
- Be of a Grade 7 or above standard for their chosen instrument or voice discipline
Candidates will be invited to perform either two or three musical pieces in front of a small group of judges. Students may only enter one instrument/voice for the competition, however, vocalists may either accompany themselves or ask for assistance to accompaniment. Total performances tend to last 15 minutes per candidate.
